Per graduated from the University of Kent in 1992 with a degree in English & French Law. He obtained an MPhil in Social & Political Theory from the University of Cambridge in 1993 and was called to the Bar in 1994. Over the next 3 years he lectured in Contract & Tort at Kent before spending 8 years at the personal injury bar based in Liverpool. Whilst at the bar, Per specialized predominantly in industrial disease litigation.
Per left the bar in 2005 and has been teaching at Kent since that time within the Law of Obligations as well as Equity & Trusts.
Per’s research interests lie predominantly within the law of tort, in particular in relation to the issue of causation. His work in this area led to academic consultancy to the Appellants in Sienkiewicz v Greif (UK) Ltd [2011] UKSC 10. Other research interests include law and football, access to justice and legal reasoning.
